Box Teaching-a recent concern

Box Teaching::I use the TERM BOX(ED) TEACHING TO THE RECENT development in the field of education. It all started in fear. First, we were hit by a pandemic and we felt over-awed by the scale at which it might cause fatalities. Lockdown followed in the wake of the pandemic. Consequently, educational institutions all over the world were forced into a long recess but the unprepared, clueless leaders who were initially taken aback by it started regaining senses slowly realizing it might continue for a longer span of time than they had anticipated. We as educators never wanted the process of education to cease/come to a sudden halt. To continue teaching while maintaining social distancing, digital/online mode was adopted en masse in situations where it was neither rational nor productive. This phenomenon of caging educators and learners into a cage/box/cube may have grave repercussions.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced educational institutions worldwide to adopt online teaching en masse. While necessary for maintaining social distancing, this sudden shift to digital education has led to what some educators are calling "Box Teaching." This term refers to the phenomenon of educators and learners being caged into a virtual cube or box, with potential repercussions on the effectiveness of the learning experience. The Erasmus Syndrome of Learning, characterized by a state of flux caused by the inability to fully engage with the learning experience, is a possible outcome of this new mode of education. Moving forward, it is essential to critically evaluate the efficacy of online teaching and explore alternative approaches that provide a more holistic learning experience.
