Penguins' Mysterious Courtship Rituals: The Real Story of the Pebble Proposal Myth

There isn't much scientific proof to back up this widely-held misconception regarding penguins. There is no concrete proof that penguins "propose" to their partners using pebbles or any other method, despite the fact that they are recognized for their close pair bonds and occasionally engage in mate-guarding behaviors. Some penguin species, including the Adelie and African penguins, have been seen to present rocks and other objects to their partners.
