Top 10 tips for getting 7+ bands in IELTS Speaking

IELTS test takers can improve their Speaking score by using the following top ten tips, which I will be sharing as an experienced IELTS Speaking Instructor.

Frequent speaking practice in English helps to enhance vocabulary, pronunciation, and fluency. You can work on your language skills with an instructor, a language exchange partner, or even by recording and listening to your own voice.

Target the task: It is crucial to comprehend the assignment and respond to the question posed. Be on topic and make an effort to back up your points with examples that are appropriate.

Employ a variety of words: To show off your language skills, use a wide range of words and synonyms. Use adjectives like "delighted," "pleased," or "ecstatic" in place of the word "happy," for instance.

Speak clearly and authoritatively: In the Speaking portion, a good pronunciation and tone of voice are essential. To effectively communicate your ideas, practise speaking with suitable intonation, stress, and rhythm.

Employ linking words: You may connect concepts and improve the coherence of your speech by using the right linking words and phrases. The words "Moreover," "Furthermore," "On the other hand," and "Nevertheless," for instance.

Don't be afraid to pause; they can be utilised for emphasis, effect, or to collect your thoughts. To increase the overall coherence and fluidity of your speech, use them sparingly.

It may be necessary for you to give your viewpoint in some assignments. To get better grades, it's essential to express an opinion clearly and with evidence. Employ expressions like "In my view," "From my perspective," "I think," etc.

Make use of examples and tales: Examples and anecdotes can help to clarify your points and add interest to your speech. For instance, if someone asks you about your preferred dining establishment, you can talk about a special occasion you had there.

Time management: Be aware of the allotted time for each section and plan your time accordingly. Try not to focus too much attention on any one issue or concern.
