Iqbal Masih: An Audacious Pakistani Hero!

Remembering Iqbal Masih: Iqbal Masih, the young activist who fought against child labour

Iqbal Masih was a Pakistani activist against child labour who spoke out against it and fought to improve the working conditions for kids in factories. He was compelled to begin working in a carpet factory at the age of four in order to support his family. He was born in Muridke, Pakistan, in 1983.

Iqbal Masih, who escaped from the carpet factory when he was 10 years old, later became an advocate for the rights of kids who labour in industries. He spoke on the problem of child labour and the value of education while travelling throughout Pakistan and abroad.

Sadly, Iqbal Masih was killed in 1995, a year after he started his advocacy when he was just 12 years old. Many people feel that his efforts and support against child labour led to his murder. However, his killers were never apprehended, and the case is still open.

The activity of individuals and organisations that support the value of education for children and the fight against child labour carries on Iqbal Masih's legacy. Let's pause today to honor Iqbal and the sacrifices he made to aid Pakistani youngsters. May we be motivated by his memory to work towards making the world a better place for all children. #EndChildLabor #ChildrensRights #EducationForAll #RememberingIqbalMasih
