Tanvir Sipra

O night, embrace me in your arms like a mother;
because the weariness of the day is breaking down my body.
I might have arrived on this planet at the wrong time.
And everyone is staring at me in amazement
Translation: Even now, Sipra, the factory owner, enjoys the alluring scent and aroma that emerges from the forge of iron; yet, I am the source of this alluring fragrance through my labor.

Poet Tanvir Sipra wrote about the hardships and suffering that the working class and the poor go through. He himself was a diligent worker from a poor family who was unable to further his education due to financial restrictions. He started writing poetry in 1963 or 1964 and became well-known in Pakistani literary circles for his original, modern poetry that celebrated reality. In 1988, he was presented with the Public Democratic Literary Award by the Pakistani National Book Council. Even now, Tanvir Sipra's voice is seen as essential to any union assembly.

Writing about Tanveer Spara, Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi states, "He himself asserts that the content of his ghazal is dry, the language sour, the phrases sharp, and these verses pass over delicate ears. However, there is no dryness, bitterness, or harshness in it since these 'sensitive ears' are truly used to the tradition of listening. Realities and truths both exist. Usually, truths are sterile, piercing, and colorless. Only in dreams can one find colors and pleasure.
