Nowadays, it is unknown if aliens actually exist. There is no clear scientific proof that conclusively demonstrates the presence of aliens, despite countless accounts of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and purported encounters with extraterrestrial beings. Nonetheless, some scientists think that alien life may exist given the size of the universe and the likelihood that habitable planets exist outside of our solar system. The existence of aliens will always be a matter of conjecture and discussion until there is hard evidence.
Aliens theories and stories have been around for centuries, but in the 20th century, modern science fiction literature, films, and television series gave them a huge boost in popularity. These hypotheses and tales are more common because of reports of supposed contacts with alien entities and UFO sightings. Several of these sightings and interactions have yet to be explained, despite the fact that many of them have been disproved as hoaxes or incorrect identifications of natural phenomena or artificial objects.
The 1947 Roswell UFO incident, in which a military airbase in New Mexico claimed to have discovered a crashed flying saucer, is one of the most well-known cases. However, the US government later determined that the object was only a weather balloon. Another occurrence is the 1961 abduction of Betty and Barney Hill, an American couple who claimed they were brought onboard a UFO and given a medical checkup by aliens. Despite the lack of conclusive evidence, these instances and others keep people interested in and speculating about the potential of extraterrestrial life.
