 Mission
Have you ever been at sea in a dense fog, when it seemed as if a tangible white darkness shut you in and the great ship, tense and anxious, groped her way toward the shore with plummet and sounding-line, and you waited with beating heart for something to happen? I was like that ship before my education began, only I was without compass or sounding line, and no way of knowing how near the harbor was. “Light! Give me light!” as the wordless cry of my soul and the light of love shone on me in that very hour.

Core Values
A school that can identify its core beliefs and values has created an empowering framework for monitoring how well the school is doing and whether individual strategies and activities are aligned with the core values. For example, Islamabad School Of Excellence staff agreed on five core values:
1. We will teach to the agreed upon course objectives and provide evidence of student achievement of those objectives.
2. We will make full use of the instructional time allotted to us.
3. We will demonstrate our belief and expectation that all students can achieve the objectives of the courses to which they are assigned.
4. We will help to insure an orderly atmosphere that is conducive to learning throughout the building.
5. We will treat all members of the school community with respect.
Message from the Principal
I feel indebted to you for showing interest and confidence in our school.I will reciprocate your affectionate behavior with my work.
As our students complete their education and after sixteen years or fewer than sixteen as their studies come to a close the students face the challenge: of what use have their studies been? Have they found in their studies only the amusement of recounting the rise and fall of nations and ideas, and retelling “sad stories of the death of kings”? Have they learned more about human nature than the man in the street can learn without so much as opening a book? Have they derived from education any illumination of our present condition, any guidance for our judgments and policies, any guard against the rebuffs of surprise or the vicissitudes of change? Have they found such regularities in the sequence of past events that they can predict the future action s of mankind or the fate of states? Have they learned to adopt and adjust themselves to the changing realities of the world? Are they well-equipped to sustain, survive and progress?
Since man is a moment in astronomic time, a transient guest of the earth, a spore of his species, a scion of his race, a composite of body, character, and mind, a member of a family and a community, a believer or doubter of a faith, a unit in an economy, perhaps a citizen in a state or a soldier in an army, we may ask under the corresponding heads – astronomy, geology, geography, biology, ethnology, psychology, morality, religion, economics, politics and war – What education (as a system) has to say about the nature, conduct, and prospects of man? It is a precarious enterprise and only a fool would try to compress twenty two centuries into twenty-two pages of hazardous conclusions. We proceed. In the Principles of Social Reconstruction (1916) Bertrand Russell writes – almost all education has a political move: it aims at strengthening some group, national or religious or even social in the competition with other groups. It is this motive in the main which determines the subject taught, the knowledge offered and the knowledge withheld and also decides what mental habits the pupils are expected to acquire. Hardly anything is done to foster the growth of mind and spirit”.
A cautious analysis of our education system reveals the fact that the above mentioned statement presents a critique of the governments educational plans and policies.
Aside from revenue mobilization, one of the arguments for allowing the private sector to assume a larger role in the provision of education is that it would increase efficiency, as administrators become more responsive to the needs of students and their parents. But what is the evidence? Based on case studies that comparative private and public education in Columbia, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, Tanzania, and Thailand, private sector students generally outperform public sector students on standardized maths and language tests.
According to a Chinese saying: “A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step”. This first step should be strong and firm. Perhaps, the time has come when we should take that first, bold, pragmatic and futuristic step to set the highest standard of academic excellence and to further improve the standard of education and to lift  Islamabad School Of Excellence to new heights. If we want to emerge as a successful nation and don’t want to prostrate at the feet of developed nations for economic assistance, we will have to educate our youth in such a way that they become a helping hand in running the wheel of economy and not a burden on the (feeble) shoulders of the (already unstable) state. No doubt, there is a great gap between the utopian dreams and the stark realities of life, but it can be paved through with vision and action. It won’t be a smooth sailing, but a purposeful action is always better than inaction, as Johan F. Kennedy once said:
“There are risks and costs to a program of action but they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction”.
In order to transform our youth into useful human resource, our first step should be to train our teachers because only better teachers can make better individuals and a nation’s strength lies in individuals – men and women. We will ensure that we make the best teachers out of ourselves in order to achieve and maintain the best standard of educational excellence, here, at Islamabad School Of Excellence! Deo volente!

2015 and Beyond
Islamabad School Of Excellence will continue to add classes each year, eventually leading to the IGCSE/ O & A Levels/IB(the International Baccalaureate) and Matriculation stream.
Class Size and Teacher-Pupil ratio
The teacher-pupil ratio is 1 teacher per 12+ pupils in classes Nursery to Year 5. It is 1 teacher per 15+ pupils in Years 6 to 10. Larger classes will have 2 teachers who may be present from the beginning. Alternatively, the second teacher may be introduced when the class size exceeds 10 pupils. This decision will be at the complete discretion of school management and may vary from class to class.
The overall teacher-pupil ratio at Islamabad School Of Excellence will, however, be even lower than 1:13, because dedicated coordinators for Art,Education Technology,Physical Education, Music, Dance etc., will provide continuous support for both pupils and class teachers.

      School Timings
Islamabad School Of Excellence is committed towards academic excellence, character building and discipline. Developing a sense of punctuality is an integral part of the school’s character building process and discipline.
Students are required to reach the school at least 10 minutes before the school starts. The school gate will be closed as soon as the school starts. Students will not be given entry after that and all late comers will be sent back. We expect 100% attendance from all our students: there is a definite link between an excellent level of attendance and high achievement. Please ensure your child is at school before the scheduled time. Latecomers not only interrupt and disturb the whole class but also miss an important part of the school day.
School Timings & Opening Hours are given below:

School Timing for PG – 5 on Friday:::08:00 am – 12:00 noon

Friday timing for Islamabad School Of Excellence is from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm.

We must make it clear that SCHOOL STARTS TEACHING AT 8.30 a.m. SHARP. No concessions will be made for late arrival. A 5-minute only grace period will be allowed, after which the parents will have to see the Head of School at that time to allow admission.
Islamabad School Of Excellence strongly believes in the importance of after-school activities, both co- and extra-curricular. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that students in primary school (Form/Year/Grade 1 to 5) will go home before 3.30 pm near special events such as annual function and other such like  events organized by the school from time to time. However, parents shall be intimated well in time.
Absence from School
Islamabad School Of Excellence has a strong policy against regular absenteeism. We make it very clear that absence without permission or notice in the form of hand written, email or telephonic message will result in your being asked to keep your child at home until the matter has been discussed and a plan of action decided by you to ensure your child is present at school every day unless it is impossible for him to be there.
Our reasons for such regulations is that absentee children slow down both their own educational progress and that of their peers and we need to keep everyone in class up to date with all aspects of the groups’ study and learning.
We expect a 90% attendance from each student each year. The possibility of repeating a year based on poor attendance cannot be ruled out.
Parental Authorisation
We would be most grateful if you would give permission for your child to be videoed, photographed (including pictures taken on mobiles) and allowed to use the internet under guidance only. We are very conscious of the need to keep you informed and seek your permission before taking any shots of child activity for portfolios, newsletters, websites etc.
